CALGARY - Calgary police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a man accused of spray-painting anti-Semitic graffiti on synagogues and a Holocaust memorial.
The 18-year-old man has been charged with hate crimes and mischief. "There was some swastikas and words such as 'kill Jews' and 'six-million more,"' Staff Sgt. Don Coleman said Wednesday.
The suspect cannot be named because he was underage when the messages were spray-painted last November, he said.
The Canadian Jewish Congress praised Calgary police for investigating the case.
"The perseverance of the Calgary Police Service shows that even cowardly acts performed under cover of darkness can be traced to their source," said CEO Bernie Farber.
"Criminal acts motivated by hate impact not only individuals but target entire communities as well."
